Frances Torres-Otero, DVM, DACVO®, is a Board-certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist at VEI Orlando.
She earned her Bachelor of Natural Sciences in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She then completed a Small Animal Internal Medicine and Surgery internship at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine and an Emergency and Critical Care internship at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine before pursuing her residency in Comparative Ophthalmology at VEI.
She has presented her research at professional meetings, including the International Equine Ophthalmology Consortium and the Southeast Veterinary Ophthalmology Society.
Dr. Torres-Otero is passionate about all aspects of veterinary ophthalmology, with special interests in advanced surgical techniques, glaucoma management, and ocular manifestations of systemic diseases. She also enjoys caring for exotic animals and horses. She is RECOVER CPR Advanced Life Support (ALS) Certified and Fear Free Certified®.
Known for her compassionate and thoughtful approach, Dr. Torres-Otero values strong relationships with clients and takes time to ensure every family feels informed and supported throughout their pet’s care
Outside of work, Dr. Frances Torres-Otero enjoys traveling, discovering new foods, and spending time outdoors with her husband and their dog
