Sarah Brattain, DVM, MPH

Resident in Veterinary Ophthalmology

Sarah Brattain, DVM, MPH, is a Veterinary Ophthalmology Resident who joined the VEI Plano team in 2022.

Dr. Brattain attended Boston University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Analysis & Policy. She earned her Master of Public Health degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. She completed a Small Animal Rotating internship at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Brattain completed her ophthalmology specialty internship at the Veterinary Eye Institute (VEI) and continues her training with VEI as an ophthalmology resident.

Dr. Brattain has a special interest in feline ophthalmology, ocular manifestation of systemic disease, and hypertensive retinopathy. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is witnessing the emotional reunion between a formerly blind pet and its family after their vision has been restored. She also enjoys the opportunity to educate pet families.

In her free time, Dr. Brattain enjoys hiking, fitness, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her husband and friends.
